PerkinsWood have just completed scoring a film directed by Shane Stuart and edited by Matt Kresling called “The Heart of the King”, a feature-length documentary exploring the lives and obsessions of Elvis impersonators and Elvis fans. The film company, based in Hollywood, is now in post-production with an expected release later this year. After seeing several video clips of the movie, Jeff and Ann said it is “magic.” Check back for bonus sound and video clips from the movie as they become available. Shane Stuart stars in Monty Lapica’s award winning film “Self Medicated”.

“It’s one thing to be scoring a film, and another to be involved with two talented film makers like Shane and Matt,” said Ann. The soundtrack is being mastered at Glenn Schick studio with Jeff Perkins producing. The score consists of variations, themes and complete songs from Guitar Island and Son of Sparkle. PW created over 70 variations of songs for the film. Upon hearing the final score Shane told PerkinsWood, “Your music has transcended this picture into another element.”

PerkinsWood have been contacted by several other directors interested in using songs from Guitar Island and Son of Sparkle for future films. Check back for more upcoming film score news.

In other news, PerkinsWood have also been asked to contribute to Amy Ray’s third solo record. In case you haven’t checked out Amy’s two previous solo recordings, you should. They rock.

Jeff and Ann now switch gears to continue recording their third fantastic album “Roll.” Seven songs are nearing completion.
